According to reefer container trade demand increase, for many ships have been needed to increase the number of electrical connection boxes and ventilation in their holds. La Nuova Meccanica Navale has been appointed by MSC for design, electrical balance calculations Class approvals and on board installation. Such modification have been developer and carried out with vessels completely operative without interfering with commercial operations at all.

This project, in conjunction with Power Pack project, allowed many ships to increase electrical power for reefer container minimizing on board modification and installation without any loss of cargo space increasing ship’s flexibility in terms of various cargos to be transported.

New regulations for ballast water management involved many Shipowners. La Nuova Meccanica Navale, appointed by MSC, together with Alfa Laval has been appointed for water ballast treatment retrofit installation being able to develop on board installation project minimizing ship’s stoppage, carrying out the majority of activities with ship’s in service with full satisfaction of Shipowner.

Quality and high standards of workers has been recognized by Alfa Laval too appointing La Nuova Meccanica Navale as official parthen. The project for all MSC Container fleet involves more than ninety installations.

power pack project development.

Upon electrical demand increase for reefer container trade, La Nuova Meccanica Navale has developed the project for containerized generating sets with power up to two megawatts that, certified by Det Norske Veritas/Germanischer Lloyd, are able to satisfy additional electrical power, complying with on board safety regulations.

Power Packs are iso-standard containers (20 and 40 feet size) that can be boarded and remotely operated by ship’s control room and, in case of need, can be connected to ship’s main switchboard for electrical supply during ship’s auxiliaries maintenance. Being iso-standard contains they can be easily transferred prom a port to another with extreme flexibility.

Rhapsody refitting project.

The Ro-ro ferry owned by French Company SNCM named Napoleon Bonaparte, sunk on Dec. ’12, has been bought by Italian Company GNV and La Nuova Meccanica Navale appointed for her complete refit after transferring from Marseille to Napoli. In less than four years all equipment and ship compartment below the main deck, completely flooded, have been totally refit bringing back the vessel in service.

All shipyard departments have been fully involved in Design, Carpentry, Mechanical, Engine, Electrical, Insulation and Painting activities

Sponson design and installation project.

GNV Excellent has been subject to hull upgrade to comply with Stockholm agreement regulation. La Nuova Meccanica Navale has been appointed for entire project from drawings development and approval trough steel cutting and preconstruction and finally to on board installation.

In less than two months Design, calculation, stability verification and installation has been completed with more than 300 tons of steel shaped and installed.
